Dominic Nahr is an internationally acclaimed photographer renowned for his captivating and evocative images. He was named Swiss Press Photographer of the Year in 2024 and, in May 2025, received both the Zürich Journalistenpreis and the Stern Preis for Story of the Year.
Based in Zürich, Switzerland, he is a staff photographer for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
Dominic Nahr is renowned for his dedication to covering significant global events. Through his work, he immerses audiences in the heart of critical moments in places like Ukraine, Syria, Japan, and Somalia. Venturing into challenging territories, he captures images that deeply resonate with viewers worldwide.
Born in Appenzell, Switzerland, in 1983, Dominic grew up in Hong Kong. He pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Toronto, Canada, before spending a decade in Nairobi, Kenya. Since 2021, he has worked as a photographer and photo editor at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in Zürich, Switzerland.
Dominic has collaborated with Leica since 2011 and has been represented and supported by Leica Switzerland since 2018.
